Culture media and their raw materials

(7) Carbohydrates:- Carbohydrates, such as glucose and lactose, are commonly added to culture media as a source of energy for microorganisms.


(8) Lipids:- Lipids, such as cholesterol and fatty acids, are added to culture media as a source of energy and membrane components for certain types of microorganisms.


(9) Indicator dyes:- Indicator dyes, such as phenol red and bromothymol blue, are often added to differential media to distinguish between different types of microorganisms based on their metabolic activity.

    The specific combination and concentration of these raw materials can be adjusted to create different types of culture media depending on the specific needs of the microorganisms being cultured.
